I was just riding my bike along the Daugava on the asphalt and saw an absolutely incredible thing.
I look — a little dog is running toward me, about ten meters away. I figured it wanted to bark at a cyclist as usual, but then I notice a shadow next to it. I look up — and almost immediately above it I see a diving eagle. Already literally five meters ahead. The dog actually squealed from fear, bolted in my direction even faster, and made it to the fence. Which is what saved it. The disappointed predator made one circle over the house and flew off into the woods.
Alas, all this happened so fast that I didn't manage to get my camera out in time, even though I reacted pretty fast.
